How do you draw clothing folds so they look natural?
Folds start from a point of tension, usually a shoulder, an elbow or a waistband, and radiate outward. Ask for that origin in the prompt. Folds scattered evenly across a garment are the clearest sign of a guessed drawing.
How does fabric weight change the drawing?
Heavy wool makes few deep rounded folds, light cotton makes many shallow ones, silk makes long sharp diagonal folds that pool at the bottom, and denim barely folds at all outside the knee and hip. Name the fabric and the folds follow.
