Body Foley

The claps, pats, and impacts of a body itself, the contacts that sell a touch or a hit on screen. Describe the action your shot is missing and Morphic generates the body foley in seconds.

  • Say how hard and on what, an open palm to a bare shoulder, a gloved fist to a padded torso, and the contact matches.
  • Human contact made for your characters, rather than the cartoon slap that has followed every comedy edit for years.
  • Each hit arrives dry and isolated, so you can place it on the frame and add your own room around it.

Body foley for animation, games, and video edits

Hand clap

A single sharp clap in a normal room, dry and unprocessed. Good as an accent, a count-in, or the seed of a crowd when layered up.

Shoulder pat

Two or three soft thumps on clothed skin, warm and low. The sound of reassurance, close enough to camera to feel intimate.

Body punch

A deep, padded impact into a torso with no crack to it. The workhorse hit for fights that should feel painful rather than comic.

Face slap

Bright, stinging and fast, with a snap at the front. Deliberately theatrical, it arrives as a moment, not just an injury.

High five

A clean palm-to-palm crack with a little skin sting to it. Celebratory by nature, and useful for punctuating a win.

Knuckle crack

Small, wet pops from finger joints, close and slightly unpleasant. A character detail that says someone is about to start something.

Make a punch actually connect

Choreography only gets a fight halfway there; the impact finishes it. Action shorts, animation and brawler games all live on these hits.

When two characters touch and nobody speaks

A hand on a shoulder passes in silence. A small pat gives drama, motion comics and audio fiction something physical to hold on to.

A locker room before anyone says a word

Claps, high fives and back slaps stacked in the background build a team, a crowd or a gym without anyone explaining where we are.

A struggle happening just off camera

A slap heard through a wall changes a scene while the camera stays put, a device used in thrillers, radio drama and stylised animation.

What is body foley?
Body foley is the performed sound of a body making contact with itself or another: claps, pats, punches, slaps, and grabs. It is added in post because those contacts are rarely recorded cleanly on set, and in a fight or a touch they often have to be created from scratch. On screen it is what gives a physical action real weight and makes a hit or an embrace land.
Where can I get body foley for a video?
Generate it rather than search for it. Describing the contact takes less time than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact force your shot needs instead of the closest available clip. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom body foley sound effect?
Describe the contact, how hard it is, and what meets what, then generate it. A prompt like "a hard punch to a torso, one dull heavy thud, about 1.5 seconds" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until the impact lines up with the action on screen.
How do I make a punch or a hit sound convincing?
Name the weight and where it lands, because a convincing hit is dull and fleshy rather than sharp and cracking. A punch to a soft torso, a slap on an open cheek, and a knock to a hard jaw all read differently, and the most common reason a fight sounds fake is a hit that is too bright for the target. Describe the surface being struck and the impact reads as real.
Can I use these body foley sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated rather than pulled from a shared library, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my body foley not sit right in the edit?
Usually the impact is a frame or two off the picture. A hit or a clap has to land on the exact frame of contact, and even slight drift reads as dubbed. Generate the contact you need, then align it to the frame the action happens on, and it settles into the scene with far less mixing.
