Coins and Keys
The bright metallic sounds of change and keyrings: a handful of coins dropped, a jangle in a pocket, a key turned in a lock, one coin spun on a table. Describe the one your shot is missing and Morphic generates it in seconds.
- Say whose pocket it is, a janitor's heavy ring, a handful of loose change, and the jangle carries that character.
- Foley cut for your performance and your props, not a decades-old key rattle half the industry has already used.
- Close-mic'd with a quiet floor, so it sits inside a hushed scene without dragging a stranger's room in with it.
Coin and key sounds for video, games, and animation
Coins dropped
Coins dropped, a handful hitting a hard surface and scattering, messy and slightly chaotic. Good for spills, tips and clumsy moments.
Keys jangle
Keys jangle, a loaded ring swinging in hand, bright and irregular; the walking sound of anyone who carries access for a living.
Coin spin
Coin spin, a piece set turning on a tabletop, its wobble tightening into a clatter, a natural clock for a tense pause.
Lock turn
Lock turn, a bolt sliding through a strike plate with a firm final thunk, the sound of a scene being closed off or opened up.
Single coin
Single coin, one small piece placed or flicked, deliberate and intimate, right for payments, coin flips and sleight of hand.
Pocket jingle
Pocket jingle, muffled metal shifting under fabric as someone walks, low enough to sit under a whole scene without pulling focus.

Ways to use coin and key foley
When a character says nothing for ten seconds
Loose change worried between fingers fills a wordless pause with nerves, far more telling than another line of dialogue would be.

Old brass lock, cheap modern deadbolt
The metal itself dates the place: worn brass and a stiff mortice suggest an old building, a slick deadbolt a new apartment block.

Someone waiting on the other side
A key ring shifting behind a closed door warns that someone is about to come in, tightening a scene the camera keeps on the wrong side of.

SSS
What is a coin and key foley sound effect?
It is the bright metallic sound of change and keyrings handled: coins dropped or spun, a keyring jangled, a key turned in a lock, or the soft rattle of both shifting in a pocket. Foley means the small, close-recorded sounds a person and their props make, the ones that make a shot feel real rather than muted.
Where can I get coin and key sounds for a video?
Generate them rather than search for them. Describing the exact jingle or drop you want takes less time than digging through a stock library, and you get the specific take your scene needs instead of the closest available match. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom coin or key sound effect?
Describe the metal object, the surface it meets, and the single action, then generate it. A prompt like "a handful of loose coins dropped onto a wooden table, a bright scattering of clinks" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until the sound fits your cut.
What is the difference between a coin drop, a key jangle, and a lock turn?
A coin drop is a bright ringing clink that scatters, a key jangle is an irregular cluster of high clinks, and a lock turn is a dry scrape ending in a low bolt clunk. Each carries a different action, so picking the wrong one is the most common reason a metallic sound reads as pasted on rather than matching the picture.
Can I use these coin and key sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated rather than pulled from a shared library, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my coin or key sound effect not sit right in the edit?
Usually the surface is wrong rather than the sound itself. Coins ringing as if they hit stone under a shot of a soft rug feel off, because the ear expects the surface it can see. Say what the metal lands on and how many pieces there are when you generate it, and the result sits in the scene with far less mixing.
