What is footstep foley?
Footstep foley is the performed sound of a person walking, matched step for step to the picture. It sets the walker's weight, pace, and footwear, and it places them on a specific surface, because a camera rarely records footsteps cleanly on set. On screen it is one of the most constant sounds there is, so getting it right is what makes a character feel physically grounded.
Where can I get footstep foley for a video?
Generate it rather than search for it. Describing the shoe and surface takes less time than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact walk your shot needs instead of the closest available clip. How do I make a custom footstep foley sound effect?
Describe the shoe, the surface, and the pace, then generate it. A prompt like "slow heavy boots on a wooden floor, firm steps, four over about 3 seconds" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until the steps line up with the walk on screen.
How do I match footsteps to the surface in my shot?
Name the surface explicitly in your prompt, because the same shoe sounds completely different on wood, gravel, tile, or grass. The surface carries more of the sound than the shoe does, so if a walk feels wrong it is usually because the floor in the audio does not match the floor on screen. Describe both, and the step lands where the picture puts it.
