Gunshot sound effects

A sharp crack with a hard instant attack and almost no tail. The default gunshot, and the one that reads as close and enclosed rather than out in the open.

Wider and lower than a pistol, with a rough scattering edge on the attack. Use it when the shot needs to feel heavy rather than precise.

The mechanical slide and lock between shots. A small sound that carries more threat than the blast does, because of what the audience knows comes next.

A hard high-pressure crack followed by a tail that rolls away and thins out. The tail is what tells the audience the shot happened somewhere wide and open.

Six rapid evenly spaced cracks of machine gun fire and then nothing. A burst reads as controlled where a long run reads as panic, so the count does the characterisation.

A magazine seated and a slide released, with no shot after it. Reach for it in the beat before a scene turns, or under a hand you never cut to.
