Rain sound effects

Drizzle, downpour, rain on glass, rain on a tin roof. Describe the weather your shot is missing and Morphic builds it at the intensity the scene needs.

  • Set the intensity, the surface, and how close the rain is
  • Weather written for this shot, not the same bed everyone uses
  • Clean audio that sits under dialogue untouched

Rain sounds for film, games, and animation

Light drizzle

0:08

The rain sound most scenes actually want. Fine and even, with no individual drops loud enough to pull focus, so dialogue sits on top of it untouched.

Steady rain

0:10

Mid-weight rain that reads as weather rather than as a texture. The workhorse bed for anything set outdoors, and the one to reach for when the shot is wide.

Heavy downpour

0:10

A dense roar with real weight to it. Loud enough to force characters to raise their voices, which is what makes a downpour feel like an event instead of weather.

Rain on a window

0:08

Individual drops ticking against glass over a muffled wash. This is the rain that tells the audience they are inside looking out, without a single cutaway.

Rain on a tin roof

0:10

Bright metallic drumming with a resonance the ground never gives you. The surface tells the story here: it puts the scene under a shed or a porch.

Rain with distant thunder

0:10

Steady rain with low rolls arriving far off. The two together carry a sense of scale that either one alone cannot, and they place the storm somewhere specific.

Ways to use rain sound effects

Punctuate a cut to a window or a street

Bringing rain up hard on the cut sells the change of place before the picture does. A sharp downpour has enough attack to work as the transition itself.

Let light rain carry a scene with no score

Light drizzle gives a still scene something to sit on and never competes with talking. Useful in a game level or an animated short as much as on film.

Tell the audience what season it is

Cold rain on tin reads as autumn, warm rain on foliage as summer. The surface carries the season more reliably than the picture does.

Put weather outside a window nobody films

Muffled rain and the odd drop on glass puts the storm outside, in a scene shot entirely indoors. The cheapest exterior you will ever build.

الأسئلة الشائعة

What kinds of rain sounds can I generate?
Anything from a fine drizzle to a hammering downpour, on any surface you name: pavement, glass, a tin roof, leaves, water, or a canvas tent. Because the sound comes from your description rather than a fixed catalogue, you can ask for a combination nobody happened to record.
How do I make rain sound realistic in a video?
Name the surface and the distance, not just the weather. Rain by itself is a generic hiss, and what makes it read as real is the material it lands on and how far away it is. "Rain on a corrugated tin roof, close" and "rain on soil, heard from indoors" give you two convincingly different scenes.
Why does my rain sound come out as static?
Because the prompt described the weather rather than the sound. A model given the word rain alone reaches for an even hiss. Describe the mechanism instead: what is falling, what it is landing on, whether individual drops are audible, and whether it is unbroken. That is what turns a wash into rain.
Can I use rain sounds under dialogue?
Yes, and light rain is one of the best beds for it because it sits mostly in the high frequencies where speech is not. Keep the intensity low and avoid heavy individual drops, which are the part that pulls attention away from a line.
Can I use these rain sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each bed is generated rather than pulled from a shared catalogue, you also avoid the same rain turning up under someone else's scene.
What is the difference between rain and a rainstorm sound effect?
Rain is the falling water on its own. A storm adds wind, thunder, and usually a heavier, more variable rainfall. Asking for a storm when you want rain is the most common reason a bed arrives too busy to sit under a scene, so name the elements you want individually.
