How do I draw a feather?
Draw a slightly curved line for the shaft first, then outline the vane on both sides, narrower at the base and rounder toward the tip. Add the barbs as fine angled strokes that follow the curve of the shaft.
How do I make a feather drawing look soft?
Break the vane in two or three places and let the barbs fray at the edges. Light, uneven strokes and a soft shadow underneath make the feather look weightless.
