How do I draw a gem?
Start with the outline of the cut, such as a circle, an oval or a rectangle. Draw a smaller shape inside for the table, then connect the two with straight lines to form the facets.
How do I make a gem drawing look shiny?
Use strong contrast between facets, with some nearly white and others very dark. Add a few sharp white glints on the edges, and a soft glow of the gem color on the surface below.
What is the easiest gem to draw?
A diamond from the side is the easiest, with a flat top, a short crown and a pointed bottom. A simple step cut from above is also easy since the facets are nested rectangles.
