What makes a drawing hard to do?
Four things mostly: foreshortening, perspective that has to stay measured, reflective or transparent surfaces, and tone built entirely from line. Naming which one you want is what pushes the result past an easy sketch.
What should I draw when I want a challenge?
A hand coming straight at the viewer, a spiral staircase from above, a glass and metal still life, or a crowded street in two-point perspective. Each one fails visibly if the structure is wrong, which is what makes it worth doing.
How do I get dense cross-hatching instead of smooth shading?
Say tone built from overlapping line only, no blending, and name the hatch direction so it turns with the form. Adding a layer count, such as three passes at different angles, tightens it further.
How do I draw reflective surfaces like glass and metal?
Both need hard edges between very dark and very light, with almost no mid tone. Ask for sharp-edged highlights, a dark core reflection and the surrounding scene bending across the surface.
How do I keep perspective accurate in a hard drawing?
State the perspective type and ask for the construction lines to stay visible. Two-point perspective with wide vanishing points and ruled guide lines reads as measured rather than eyeballed.
Can I make an easier version of the same drawing?
Yes. Keep the subject and drop the difficulty in the prompt, asking for a simple outline with no shading. Generating both gives you a step-up pair from a beginner version to the full study.
