What is cloth foley?
Cloth foley is the performed sound of fabric moving on a body: the rustle of a shirt, the swish of a coat, the drag of a sheet. It is added in post to make a figure on screen feel physically present, because most cameras never capture clothing movement cleanly. On screen it does quiet, constant work, telling the ear that a real body is moving.

How do I make a custom cloth foley sound effect?

How is cloth foley different from a footstep or a prop sound?
Cloth foley covers only the fabric on a moving body, not the feet and not what the hands touch. It is the softest of the three and usually sits lowest in a mix, filling the space between the harder footstep and prop hits so a movement reads as continuous rather than as a series of separate sounds.
