How do I draw an open book so the pages look real?
Ask for the page edges as fine stacked lines and for the inner pages to curve down into the gutter. A flat spread reads as a folded card, while the curve and the stacked edges give it thickness.
How do I draw the ribbon marker?
Describe it falling across one page and over the edge with a soft twist in the middle. A ribbon drawn perfectly flat looks pasted on, and the twist is what gives it weight.
Can I add text to the pages?
Generated line work is unreliable at small text sizes. Ask for suggested text as fine ruled lines instead, then add real typography on the Canvas or in your layout tool afterwards.
