How do you draw a bone so it does not look like a stick?
The shaft is narrower than the two ends, and the ends flare and twist in slightly different directions. Ask for that flare explicitly. A tube of even width with rounded caps is what reads as a stick.
How do I draw the surface texture of bone?
Bone is porous and slightly waxy, not smooth. Ask for fine directional hatching that follows the length of the shaft, with a few small pits and hairline cracks near the ends. Keep the highlights soft rather than glossy.
What is the difference between a cartoon bone and a real one?
