Trapped in ice effect

Shots where frost races over a subject and thickens into clear ice that seals it in, bending the view of everything behind.

Trapped in ice effect examples

Two runners, one sealed in ice

On a wide track one runner freezes solid mid stride while the other runs on. a wide shot of two runners on an outdoor track, the one on the left frosts over and is sealed inside a clear block of ice mid stride with one foot still off the ground, trapped bubbles and internal cracks visible, while the runner on the right carries on at full speed with hair and clothes moving normally, the track and the flat daylight unchanged, locked wide camera

Ice fills a swimming pool

A pool freezes from the edges inward and traps a swimmer in the clear surface. a wide shot of an outdoor swimming pool, frost spreads from the tiled edges inward and the water turns to clear ice across the whole surface, sealing a swimmer just below it with one arm mid stroke and a frozen bow wave around the shoulders, trapped bubbles in long strings under the surface, the deck chairs and the light unchanged, locked wide camera

One mug frozen on a tray

A single mug is encased in ice while the others on the tray steam normally. a close vertical shot of a tray holding three plain ceramic mugs of hot drink in a warm kitchen, the middle mug frosts over and clear ice grows up around it until it is fully encased in a rough block, the liquid inside stopped mid ripple, the two mugs either side still steaming with the surface of the drink moving, condensation running on the outside of the ice, locked camera

Ice grows over a doorway

Frost and clear ice fill an open doorway from the frame inward. a close vertical shot of an open doorway in a plain hallway, frost creeps inward from all four sides of the frame and clear ice thickens across the opening until it is fully sealed like a rough pane, the corridor beyond visible but bent and blurred through the ice, a person on the near side watching and reaching out to touch the surface, the hallway light unchanged, locked camera

Frost climbs, ice seals a figure

Frost runs up a standing person and thickens into a clear block around them. a person stands mid gesture in a bare room, white frost spreads up from the boots across the clothes and skin in fast branching lines, then clear ice thickens outward from the body until a solid block seals them in with their arm still raised inside it, trapped air bubbles and fine internal cracks catching the light, the wall behind bending and shifting where it shows through the block, locked camera

Breaking out of the ice

A sealed figure pushes and the block splits open along bright fracture lines. a close vertical shot of a person sealed inside a clear block of ice in a dim concrete room, they push outward and bright white fracture lines race through the block from the shoulders, the surface splits and thick shards fall away in slabs to the floor, frost crumbling from the clothes underneath as the body moves freely again, the room and the light unchanged throughout, locked camera

One car frozen in a forecourt

A single parked car is encased in ice while the others sit dry beside it. a wide shot of four plain unbranded cars parked on a forecourt in flat daylight, the second car frosts over and clear ice grows around the whole body until it is encased in a rough block with the wheels and door handles visible but bent through the thickness, the three other cars staying completely dry with clear glass and normal paint, locked wide camera

Hand inside a clear block

A raised hand is sealed in ice while the forearm below stays warm skin. a close vertical shot of a raised hand against a dark plain wall, clear ice grows outward from the fingers and thickens into a rough block around the whole hand with trapped bubbles and a frosted rim, the fingers held still inside and visibly magnified and offset by the thickness of the ice, the forearm below the wrist staying normal warm skin with meltwater beading at the edge of the block, locked camera

Ice block splits in a warehouse

A wide shot of a figure breaking out of a block as slabs crash to the floor. a wide shot of a bare warehouse with one hanging lamp, a person sealed in a tall clear block of ice at the centre of frame pushes outward, fracture lines flash through the block and it splits into heavy slabs that crash and slide across the concrete floor, frost falling from the clothes as they step clear, the lamp swinging faintly from the impact, locked wide camera

Frozen mid splash

A thrown arc of water freezes solid in the air and holds its shape. a close vertical shot of a hand throwing an arc of water across a dark plain background, the arc turns to frost in the air and then to clear ice so the whole curve holds in place as a solid sculpture with trapped bubbles inside it, individual droplets frozen as glassy beads at the leading edge, the hand below it staying normal and lowering away, locked camera

الأسئلة الشائعة

Where can I make a trapped in ice video?
You can create one in your browser on Morphic. Describe the subject, where the frost starts and how thick the ice becomes, and the Text to Video tool generates the shot. Upload a still and use Image to Video to freeze a person or object you already have.
What is the trapped in ice effect?
It is a transformation where frost spreads over a subject and clear ice thickens around it until the subject is sealed inside a block. The give-away details are optical: trapped air bubbles, fine internal cracks, and a bent, offset view of whatever sits behind the ice.
How do I prompt the ice so it looks solid?
Separate the frost from the ice. Frost is a surface pattern that spreads in branching lines; ice is a volume that grows outward and has thickness. Ask for refraction through that thickness, bubbles held inside it, and a frosted rim where the block meets air.
Can I freeze myself in my own photo?
Yes. Upload a clear still and use Image to Video with a prompt naming where the frost starts and how far the ice travels. Poses with a raised arm or a wide stance work best, because the block then has an interesting shape instead of a plain slab.
Which shots work best for a freeze?
Scenes with something warm still happening: steam from a drink, a second person moving normally, water in motion. Cold reads by contrast. Plain backgrounds also help, because the bend in the background through the ice is easier to see against simple shapes.
Can the subject break back out of the ice?
Yes. Write the reverse as its own clip: a push from inside, bright fracture lines racing through the block, then thick slabs falling away and frost crumbling off the clothes. Generating the freeze and the break separately lets you cut them together on the timeline.
