Perguntas frequentes

How do I draw a gorilla head so it does not look human?
Push the brow forward and the forehead back. The eyes sit deep under a heavy ridge, the nose is broad and flat with wide ridged nostrils, and the muzzle projects well beyond the eye line. A rounded forehead and a small nose is what makes a gorilla read as a person in fur.
What is the crest on top of the head?
It is the sagittal crest, a bony ridge running front to back over the skull that anchors the jaw muscles. Adult males have a pronounced one, so the head comes to a domed peak. Females and juveniles have a much rounder crown, which is a quick way to age the animal in a drawing.
How do I draw the body proportions correctly?
Build from the shoulders. The chest and shoulder mass is far wider than the hips, the arms are longer than the legs, and the belly is deep and rounded. Blocking the torso as a broad wedge that narrows toward the pelvis gets you most of the way before any detail.
How do I draw the fur without losing the form?
Only draw hair where the silhouette or the plane changes. Lay long directional strokes that follow the muscle underneath, keep them dense along the shoulder and back and sparse across the chest. Texturing the whole animal evenly flattens it every time.
How do I get a plain background or a dark ground for a gorilla drawing?
Ask for a flat white background with no habitat around the animal if you want a clean silhouette, or near-black toned paper if you want a rim-lit study. Either way you can crop the framing on the Canvas, which is useful when you want a head crop out of a full body.
Can I keep a set of gorilla drawings in one style?
Use Style Transfer. Lock the look of the first drawing, then apply it as you generate each pose so the line weight, fur treatment and paper tone stay matched. That is what holds a head turn sequence or an anatomy sheet together as a single coherent study.
