How do I make a waterfall sound big?
Add low end, not volume. A large fall carries a strong low rumble underneath the wash because of the mass of water hitting the pool, while a small cascade is almost entirely bright splashing. Naming that rumble is what conveys scale.
Why does my waterfall sound like static?
Because the prompt described the place rather than the movement. Water falling is a wash plus individual impacts, so ask for splashes over a steady wash and say whether it lands on rock or in a pool.
