Preguntas frecuentes

How do I draw the stitches on a baseball correctly?
The seam is one continuous figure-eight wrapped around the ball, so from most angles you see two curves that bow toward each other and never meet. Draw those two curves first as light guides, then add the stitches in pairs that angle across the seam like a row of small V shapes. Keep the pairs evenly spaced and let them get closer together as the seam turns away from you.
How do I draw a batter in a convincing swing pose?
Start with the line of action running from the back foot up through the hips and out along the bat, not with the outline. The hips lead, the shoulders follow and the head stays still over the back knee, so the body twists rather than leaning. Block that curve in first and the limbs can be hung on it afterwards.
How do I draw worn leather on a glove?
Leather creases in long curves that radiate from where the hand folds, so put a few deep primary creases across the palm and let smaller ones fan off them. Keep the highlights broad and soft rather than sharp, and darken the lacing holes so the webbing sits forward of the pocket.
How do I draw a baseball that looks round?
Curve the seams around the form instead of drawing them flat across the circle. A seam that bends with the surface does more for roundness than shading does. Then add one soft shadow along the lower edge and leave a clean highlight up and to one side of centre.
How do I crop a baseball drawing for a logo or a sticker?
Ask for a flat white background with nothing around the subject, then crop square and tight on the Canvas. A clean silhouette with even line weight scales down without the stitches filling in, which is what usually breaks a detailed drawing at sticker size.
Can I keep a whole set of sports drawings in the same style?
Use Style Transfer. Lock the look of the first drawing, then apply it as you generate the glove, the bat and the figures so the line weight, texture and palette stay consistent. That is what holds a team poster set or a series of kit illustrations together.
