Make the lock click as the door gives way
One insert and turn on the frame the hand twists lands the moment, in a thriller, an escape-room game or an animated short.

- Turned for your front door at the end of a long night shift

Preguntas frecuentes
What is a key sound effect?
A key sound is a single key working a lock: sliding into the cylinder, turning, sticking, or being pulled back out. It is different from jingling keys, which is a whole bunch shaking, because here you hear the metal scraping over pins and the bolt moving.
Where can I get key sounds for a video?
Describe the key and the lock on Morphic and generate the sound. It beats searching a stock library, and the slide, turn or jiggle you get matches your insert shot. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it.
How do I make a custom key sound effect?
Name the key, the lock and the action, then generate it. A prompt like "a heavy iron skeleton key turning in an old lock, a deep grinding scrape and a loud clunk" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between a key turn, a lock click and jingling keys?
A key turn is the key itself scraping in and rotating, heard as a slide and a clunk. A lock click is the mechanism snapping shut on its own. Jingling keys is a bunch shaking on a ring, which tells you someone is carrying keys and has not reached the lock yet.
Can I use these key sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my key sound not sit right in the edit?
The turn usually lands a few frames off the hand. Line the clunk up with the twist of the wrist, then let the slide start just before it. If the shot is wide, lower the level so the key does not sound closer than the camera.
