Where is the thunder?
On the thunderstorm page, which owns thunder and rain. This page is the storms that are not that: blizzards, sandstorms, sea gales, hail. Keeping them apart means neither page is a weaker version of the other.
How do I make one wind bed into a specific place?
Name what it is carrying. Fine dry snow reads as a blizzard, fine dry particles read as a sandstorm, and open water adds a low moan. The wind underneath is identical in all three.
Why does my hail sound like static?
It was prompted as a texture. Any dense natural sound needs its unit first, here small hard pellets striking a thin surface, and the density second, or it flattens into noise.
What is the most useful clip for an interior scene?
The shutter. One loose panel banging at uneven intervals puts a storm outside a window without a bed running under the whole scene, and it leaves room for dialogue.
Do I need the calm before?
If the storm arrives during your scene, yes. A very low steady pressure with almost nothing in it makes the cut to a full gale land, and without it the storm is just weather that was always there.
