FAQ
What is an intercom sound effect?
It is the sound of an intercom system on its own: a buzzer at a building door, the electric door release, a handset lifted and hung up, call tones, the chime before an announcement and the static of an open line. It tells the audience someone is at the door or a message is on its way.
Where can I get intercom sounds for a video?
Generate them from a prompt. Describing the intercom sound you need takes less time than digging through a stock library, and the exact take your scene needs is generated for you. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom intercom sound effect?
Describe the part of the intercom and what it does, then generate it. A prompt like "an intercom door release, a long rattling electric buzz from a door lock, then a sharp metal click" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between an intercom, a doorbell and a phone ring?
A doorbell is a chime or ring inside the home from one button, with nothing to answer through, while an intercom is two-way, so it brings a harsh buzzer, static from a small speaker and the electric door release. A phone ring repeats in a set pattern. Pick the intercom when the caller is at a building door.
Can I use these intercom sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my intercom sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually it sounds too full and too close. An intercom plays through a small speaker, so its buzz and static should be thin and a little distorted, while the door release comes from the lock itself. Put the buzz on the frame the button is pressed and the release a beat after the handset answers.
