Hit the frame where the picture breaks apart
A bitcrushed burst on the exact frame the image corrupts makes the break land, in a music video, a game menu or an animated title.

Distortion
Amp feedback squealing, a blown speaker rattling and bursts of crunchy bitcrushed noise. Describe the distortion your edit needs and Morphic generates it clean, from a single clipped hit to a wall of grind.
- Feedback, a blown speaker, a bitcrushed burst or an overdriven hit, as asked
- Shaped for the frame where your footage tears apart and the signal fails
- Clean, isolated distortion to lay under a cut, a title or a broken screen
Distortion sounds for games, animation, and video edits
Amp feedback squeal
A piercing squeal climbing out of an amp, for the moment before a band kicks in or a scene tips into chaos.
Blown speaker
A torn cone flapping and buzzing on a low note, for broken gear, a failing machine or a cheap party speaker.
Bitcrushed burst
Two crunchy digital bursts that snap on and off, for a corrupted frame, a hacked screen or a sharp edit point.
Overdriven bass hit
A single fuzzy low thud for a cut to black, a heavy title or a drop in an intro, with grit that rings out.
Warped signal
A tone bending and crackling as it warps, for a jammed transmission, a dream sequence or a signal from far away.
Noise wall
Thick grinding fuzz at full saturation, a bed for an assault on the senses, a breakdown or an experimental piece.

Ways to use a distortion sound effect
Hold a tense shot on a rising wall of noise
Grinding fuzz carries a long, wordless shot and keeps the pressure up with no score, in a thriller, an art film or a podcast segment.

Set the mood of a loud, gritty rehearsal space
Amp feedback under the first shot tells the audience they are in a loud rehearsal room, in a band video, an animated short or a game.

Hint that a signal is being jammed off screen
A warped tone bending in the background suggests interference the viewer never sees, in sci-fi video, spy games and audio drama.

What is a distortion sound effect?
It is a sound pushed past what the gear can carry, so it clips into grit, fuzz, crackle or feedback. Editors use it on transitions, broken screens, title hits and any moment where the audio should feel damaged or overloaded.
Where can I get distortion sounds for a video?
Generate them from a prompt. Describing the grit and texture you want takes less time than digging through a stock library, and the exact sound your scene needs is generated for you. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom distortion sound effect?
Describe the source, the type of grit and whether it holds or cuts off, then generate it. A prompt like "a blown speaker cone driven by a low bass tone, buzzing and rattling with ragged crackle" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between distortion, glitch and static?
Distortion is a sound overloaded until it turns gritty, fuzzy or squealing. A glitch is a stutter or skip in digital audio, and static is the steady hiss and crackle of an untuned signal, so reach for distortion when something is pushed too hard.
Can I use these distortion sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my distortion sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually it is too loud and too wide for the moment, so it covers dialogue and music. Keep a burst short and cut it to the frame the picture breaks, and lower a sustained wall of noise under the scene so it adds pressure without taking over.
