Get a laugh when the speech goes wrong
One feedback squeal on the frame the speaker leans in turns a formal moment into comedy, in a sketch, a sitcom scene or an animated short.

What is a microphone sound effect?
It is a sound the microphone itself makes when it is live: a tap test, a feedback squeal, handling rumble, a cable pop or a stand falling over. These sounds come through a speaker, so they are loud and boomy, which is what makes them read instantly as a mic.
Where can I get microphone sounds for a video?
Generate them from a prompt. Describing the sound you want takes less time than digging through a stock library, and the exact thump or squeal your scene needs is generated for you. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom microphone sound effect?
Describe what happens to the mic and say it is live through a speaker, then generate it. A prompt like "a finger tapping the top of a live microphone, three loud hollow thumps through a speaker" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between feedback, a plosive and handling noise?
Feedback is a ringing squeal that builds when a mic picks up its own speaker. A plosive is a boomy thump from a burst of air hitting the mic, while handling noise is the low rumble of a hand gripping and moving it.
Can I use these microphone sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my microphone sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually it sounds too close and dry for a mic that is meant to be heard through a hall speaker. Add a little of the room it plays in, and line the thump up with the hand or stand you see move. Keep feedback short, since a long squeal quickly becomes painful.
