Angry sound effects

The shout, the low growl through the teeth, the sharp exhale of someone holding it in, the frustrated snarl, and a crowd turning. Describe how controlled it is and Morphic builds it.

  • Set how much is being held back, which is what separates rage from something worse

Angry sound effects

Anger for film, games, and animation

Furious shout

Harsh and full-voiced with a hard edge and an abrupt stop. Loud, but the stop is what makes it land rather than the volume.

Low growl

Forced through clenched teeth with no volume behind it. The frightening one, because it is anger that has not been spent.

Sharp exhale

A hard exhale through the nose, clipped at the end. The smallest possible anger, and the one that reads as professional restraint.

Frustrated snarl

Rough and rising then breaking off. Anger at a situation rather than a person, which is a different scene entirely.

Slammed word

A single syllable thrown hard with no pitch movement. Flat and loud reads as command, where a rising shout reads as losing control.

A crowd turning

Many voices rising together into a hostile swell, each a beat apart. The stagger is what stops it sounding like one shout multiplied.

Ways to use an angry sound effect

Punctuate the moment someone snaps

The shout on the cut ends a scene faster than any line, and it works the same in a game cutscene as on film.

Fill a held silence without music

A low restrained growl carries three seconds of two people not speaking, and keeps the pressure inside the room.

Tell the audience who is in control

A flat barked syllable reads as authority. A rising ragged shout reads as somebody losing it. Same anger, opposite power.

Put a hostile crowd off camera

Voices swelling outside the frame surrounds one character with a mob nobody had to cast or film.

Perguntas frequentes

How do I make anger sound dangerous rather than loud?
Hold it back. A low growl through clenched teeth with no volume behind it reads as someone with more anger in reserve, where a full shout reads as someone who has just spent all of theirs.
What is the difference between this and a grunt?
Intent. Anger is directed at someone and every card here has a target. A grunt is effort or acknowledgement and is aimed at nobody. They are separate pages because a scene almost never wants both.
How do I get authority rather than rage?
Flatten it. A syllable barked hard with no rise or fall and an instant stop reads as command; the moment the pitch starts moving it reads as someone losing control.
Can I get a female or older voice?
Yes. Change the description at the front of the prompt and keep the restraint notes, since how much is held back is what carries the character rather than the voice.
Why does my crowd sound like one angry person?
It was prompted as a single mass. Ask for many separate voices each starting a beat apart at different pitches, and the stagger turns it into a room full of people.
Can I use these in a game or a monetised video?
Yes. Audio generated on a paid Morphic plan is cleared for commercial use, including games, film, and monetised video.
