Preguntas frecuentes

How do I draw a camera that looks like real hardware?
Build it from boxes before you draw any detail. The body is a shallow rectangular solid, the lens is a cylinder pushed into its front face, and the viewfinder hump sits on top. Getting those three volumes in agreement matters far more than drawing the dials accurately.
How do I draw a camera lens?
The lens front is a circle only when you look at it straight on. From any other angle it is an ellipse, and every ring behind it is a narrower ellipse on the same axis. Keep those ellipses parallel and the barrel will look solid rather than bent.
What viewpoint is best for a camera drawing?
A three-quarter view from slightly above. It shows the front face, one side and the top plate at once, so the dials, the lens and the body depth are all readable in a single image. A flat front-on view turns the camera into a symbol.
How do I draw the dials and knurled edges?
Draw the dial as an ellipse, then mark the knurling as short radial ticks around its rim, tighter where the surface curves away from you. Do not draw every tick evenly spaced or the dial flattens out. Letting the marks compress at the edges is what suggests a turning surface.
How do I get a plain background for an object drawing?
Ask for a flat white background with no desk or setting around the camera, then crop it on the Canvas. That keeps the silhouette clean enough to place into an icon set, a spec sheet or a printed instruction layout.
Can I keep a set of equipment drawings in one style?
Use Style Transfer. Lock the look of the first drawing, then apply it as you generate the lens, the tripod and the flash so the line weight, the ellipse treatment and the palette match across the set, which matters when they sit together on one page.
