Preguntas frecuentes

How do I draw a diamond so it looks faceted and not flat?
Give every facet its own value and never blend across a facet edge. A real stone shows abrupt jumps from near-white to near-black between neighbouring planes, so the moment you soften those borders it reads as a smooth pebble instead of a cut gem.
How do I get the facet pattern right on a round brilliant?
Start from the octagonal table in the centre, then work outward in rings. Eight star facets touch the table, eight kite facets sit beyond them and sixteen upper girdle facets meet the outer edge. Ruling the symmetry axes first keeps the rings even.
What is the easiest diamond cut to draw?
An emerald cut. It is a rectangle with cut corners and the facets are long parallel steps, so you are drawing straight lines at regular intervals rather than a radial pattern. A pear or marquise is harder because the curve has to stay symmetrical.
How do I draw the sparkle without it looking like a cartoon star?
Sparkle is contrast, not added symbols. Leave two or three facets as bare paper and push the ones beside them to your darkest value. If you want dispersion as well, break the light into small patches of blue, amber and violet inside the facet grid instead of drawing rays.
How do I get a plain background or a dark one for a diamond drawing?
Ask for a flat white background with no setting around the stone if you want a clean silhouette, or near-black toned paper if you want the facets to carry the light. Either way you can crop and adjust the ground on the Canvas afterwards.
Can I keep a whole set of diamond drawings in one style?
Use Style Transfer. Lock the look of the first stone, then apply it as you generate each cut so the line weight, facet shading and palette stay matched across the set. That is what makes a cut comparison sheet read as a single coherent set.
