Draw a saxophone with the key work in place

Draw a saxophone in your browser with Morphic's Image tool by naming the type, the viewing angle, how much of the key work shows and the drawing medium. Ask for a clean contour or a full brass study, refine it on the Canvas, then download the result in HD.

Preguntas frecuentes

How do I draw a saxophone so the shape reads correctly?
The body is a gently tapering tube, the bow at the bottom is a tight U, and the bell turns back up and forward. Describe those three parts separately and the silhouette holds together instead of looking like a bent pipe.
How do I draw the keys without it getting messy?
Group them. Ask for the key cups as a column of small ovals down one side of the body, with the rods running between them as thin parallel lines. Drawing every spring individually is what turns the body into clutter.
Which saxophone is easiest to draw?
A soprano, because it is closest to a straight tube with the key work along one side. An alto is the most recognisable shape, and a baritone has the most tubing to keep track of.
How do I make it look like brass?
Brass reads through contrast. Ask for hard bright highlights next to dark reflections with little mid tone between them, and a warm cast in the lit areas if you are drawing in colour.
Can I get a simple saxophone outline for a poster or tattoo reference?
Yes. Ask for one even stroke weight with no shading and the key work reduced to a few shapes. That keeps the silhouette clean and it still reads as a saxophone at small sizes.
Can I draw a matching set of instruments?
Lock the saxophone with Style Transfer, then generate a trumpet, a clarinet and a double bass against it. The set comes back sharing one line weight and one metal treatment.
