Preguntas frecuentes

How do I draw a squirrel so it looks like a squirrel?
Get the proportions before the fur. The head is round and short-muzzled, the eye is large and set high, and the back is a continuous curve from the ears to the base of the tail when the animal sits. The hind legs are much heavier than the front ones, which is what gives the upright pose its shape.
How do I draw the bushy tail?
Draw the tail as a single curved core line first, then lay hair strokes across it in the direction it grows, out and slightly back. Keep the edge broken and feathered rather than outlined, and let a little of the core show through. An outlined tail always reads as solid rather than furry.
How do I draw fur without drawing every hair?
Render one area fully, usually where the light hits the shoulder or the cheek, and let the rest fall away into tone. Follow the growth direction with your strokes and break the silhouette only at the edges, on the ear tufts and along the tail. Even fur everywhere flattens the animal.
What is the difference between drawing a red and a grey squirrel?
The red is smaller and lighter built, with long pointed ear tufts and a slimmer tail. The grey is heavier through the shoulders, has rounded ears with no tufts, and carries a broader tail. Naming the species changes the silhouette enough that it is worth saying in the prompt.
How do I get a plain background for a squirrel drawing?
Ask for a flat white background with no branch, no ground and no setting, then crop it on the Canvas. That keeps the silhouette clean, which is what you want if the drawing is going into a card, a worksheet or a set of matching animal illustrations.
Can I keep a set of animal drawings in one style?
Use Style Transfer. Lock the look of the first drawing, then apply it as you generate each pose or species so the line weight, the fur treatment and the palette stay the same. That is what makes a set of wildlife prints read as one series rather than six separate drawings.
