Preguntas frecuentes

How do I draw a suit jacket so it looks tailored?
Tailoring reads through the shoulder and the button stance. Ask for a clean shoulder line with a slight roll, the jacket buttoned at the waist only, and folds that start at the shoulder rather than everywhere at once.
How do I draw lapels correctly?
Name the type. Notch lapels have a small step cut out where the collar meets them, peak lapels point upward, and a shawl lapel is one unbroken curve. Say which one, and add the buttonhole at the top of the left lapel.
What is a technical flat and when should I ask for one?
A flat is the garment drawn symmetrical with no body in it and every seam marked. Ask for one when you need to show construction rather than styling, for a spec sheet, a portfolio page or a pattern reference.
How do I draw fabric folds without overdoing them?
Folds happen where the cloth is pulled or compressed: at the elbow, at the buttoned waist and where the trouser meets the shoe. Ask for folds only at those points and the rest of the cloth left smooth.
Can I get a suit drawing on a plain background?
Yes. Ask for the suit alone on flat white with no figure and no floor, then crop it on the Canvas. That version drops into a lookbook page, a menu of styles or a print layout without cleanup.
Which medium suits a suit drawing best?
Thin even line is right for a technical flat, graphite handles drape and folds, charcoal suits a dark formal mood, and markers give you the flat blocked fabric look used in illustration work.
