Button sound effects

A press has a material, a travel and a release. Describe those three and Morphic builds the button your product, game or edit actually needs.

  • Describe the material, the travel, and the release you want back
  • A press that belongs to your product rather than a stock cue heard everywhere
  • Download clean audio that drops straight into a prototype or a timeline

Button presses for products, games, and demos

Soft confirm press

A rounded tone with no hard edge, the cue a product plays when something has been accepted. This is the version most interface work wants, because it reads as a response rather than as a machine part moving.

Firm control button

A dry snap down and a lighter snap back up, so the press has two halves. Reach for it when a finger is meant to feel like it moved something physical rather than triggered a tone.

Rubber keypad press

Low, muted and almost ringless, the sound of a soft pad collapsing under a thumb. It sits under dialogue without pulling attention, which is why appliance and handset scenes use it.

Arcade cabinet button

Big, hollow and slightly resonant, with the spring audible on the way back. It carries the scale of a machine, so one press tells a viewer how large the thing being operated is.

Metal toggle flip

Two bright metallic stages and a thin ring, the flick of a lever rather than the push of a pad. Useful when a change of state needs to sound deliberate and irreversible.

Heavy machine control

A long travel ending in a dense low thud, with weight in the release. It gives a control real mass, which is what separates industrial hardware from a plastic remote on screen.

Ways to use button sound effects

Mark the moment a tap is accepted

A short rounded tone confirms an action the instant a finger lifts. It does the same job in an app walkthrough, a game menu and a product film shown without narration.

Keep a screen recording alive without music

Presses spaced across a silent capture carry the pace on their own. A tutorial, a game menu or a podcast video stays watchable without a track running under it.

Tell the audience what era the hardware is from

A hollow plastic knock reads as an old cabinet, a rubber pad as a handset, a metal lever as something built to last. One press dates the object for a viewer.

Put a machine off screen into the scene

A weighted control press implies hardware nobody has to build or film. Animation and games use it to suggest a system running just outside the frame.

Preguntas frecuentes

What makes a good button sound effect?
A clear front edge and a matching release. The press tells a viewer something happened, and the release tells them the finger came off, so a cue with only half of that reads as a tone playing rather than as a control being operated.
How do I make a button sound effect for an app?
Describe the material and the travel instead of naming the button. Say whether the surface is hard plastic, soft rubber or metal, how far it moves before it stops, and whether the tail is dry or rings a little.
How long should a button press be?
Ask for about 1.5 to 2 seconds and trim it in the edit. Very short requests come back thin or empty, whereas a slightly longer take gives you the whole attack and release to cut against.
Why do my button sounds all feel the same?
Because they were described with the same word. Vary the mechanism rather than the volume: a rubber pad, a spring-loaded snap and a heavy travel are three different physical events, and a viewer hears the difference instantly.
How do I make a press sound expensive?
Give it a dense low body and a short, clean stop. Cheap hardware rings and rattles after the press, so removing the ring and adding weight underneath is what makes a control read as solid.
Can I use generated button sounds in a commercial product?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. For a shipped interface that matters twice over, since a cue built for your product is not one a competitor can download from the same pack.
