Low battery chirp
Two thin chirps, the second lower than the first. That downward pair is read as bad news by almost everybody, which is why it works with no context around it.
Handset into the cradle
A blunt knock with a small spring rattle and a bell tap inside the shell. Reach for it when a conversation ends and nobody wants to say goodbye out loud.
Charger connecting
A light plastic snap, then a short rising chime confirming it. Two events in that order tell a listener something physical happened and the device agreed with it.

How do I make a phone sound effect?

How do I make a phone sound modern rather than old?

How do I design a cue that works inside an app?
Ask for a short pure tone with a fast attack and almost no tail. Interface audio is heard hundreds of times, so anything with a long ring or a rich texture becomes tiring, and a clean two-note shape stays readable at low volume.
Why do my keypad tones sound like a single beep?
Because the count was left open. Say how many presses you want and roughly how long the run takes, and describe each press as a two-note pip rather than a tone. Without a count, a sound model renders one representative event and stops.
