Gore Sound Effects

Viewer discretion advised. This page covers graphic depictions of injury, blood and wounds, for adult-audience film, games and creative work.

Gore lands in the mix rather than the frame, and a library rarely has the exact hit your cut wants. Morphic generates squelches, bone breaks and body impacts as isolated sounds at the duration you ask for, so the effect fits the edit instead of the edit bending to the effect.

  • Wet flesh impacts, squelches and splatter
  • Bone breaks, snaps and joint damage
  • Body falls, drags and dead weight on hard surfaces

Hear what you can generate

Flesh impact

0:04

One thick, close hit with nothing else in the recording. What a fight cuts to when the punch has to land.

Bone snap

0:02

A single clean crack with a short dry tail. No reverb, so it drops straight into a mix.

Body fall

0:06

A dull thud with the scuffing settle after it, the half editors usually fake by layering two files.

Blade drawn from flesh

0:04

Wet drag with a final release. Restrained rather than lurid, which is what makes it usable over a cutaway.

Wet footsteps

0:05

Slow deliberate steps through a shallow pool, with the tacky peel as each shoe comes away. The peel is the part that sells it.

Body drag

0:06

One continuous friction of cloth and skin over grit, with the weight audible in it rather than implied.

Ce que vous pouvez générer

  • Wet flesh impacts, squelches and splatter
  • Bone breaks, snaps and joint damage
  • Body falls, drags and dead weight on hard surfaces
  • Blade and blunt-force hits with the tail your cut needs
  • Screams, cries and non-verbal distress, generated as isolated sound

Ce que Morphic ne génère pas

  • Nothing involving minors, in any context.
  • Sound design for adult-audience fiction.
  • No sexual content.
  • Not for real-world instruction, impersonation or harassment.

Everything on this page is fictional depiction for film, games and creative work. It does not depict real events, and does not place real, identifiable people in them.

Results vary by model. Some models apply stricter content policies than others, so a shot one model declines may generate on another.

Questions fréquentes

How do I generate a realistic gore sound effect?
Describe the sound, not the scene. "A wet squelching flesh impact, thick and close, one hit, isolated" returns a usable effect; "a gruesome murder" returns an attempt at a whole scene. Naming the material, the single action and the isolation is what makes it drop straight onto a timeline.
Can I set how long a gore effect runs?
Yes. Duration is a setting, so you can ask for the exact length the cut needs rather than trimming a library file and losing its tail.
Why generate gore foley instead of using a library?
A library gives you the takes somebody else recorded, and horror editing usually needs one specific hit at one specific length. Generating it means the impact matches the picture on the first pass instead of being close enough.
How are gore sound effects normally made?
In foley, almost entirely from food and fabric. Wet impacts come from meat and vegetables, bone breaks from celery and dry pasta, and the result is layered until it reads as a body. Describing the sound in those material terms rather than by the injury tends to give you a cleaner, more usable result.
How do I get a hit I can layer in my own mix?
Ask for it isolated, close-miked and dry, with a single source and no room on it. A clean hit with no reverb drops into any scene, because you add the space afterwards with your own reverb. A clip generated with a room baked in carries that room everywhere you use it.
