Let one creak betray the hiding place
A single floorboard creak on the frame someone shifts tells the audience exactly where they are hiding, in a thriller, a stealth game or an animated chase.

One loose board squealing as weight shifts onto it, the creak that gives away someone hiding in a quiet house, a hallway or an attic.
Rusty gate hinge
A heavy iron gate swinging on a rusted hinge, for an abandoned house, a graveyard path or a farm left to rot.
Ship hull creak

Leather chair creak
Thick leather stretching as someone shifts their weight, for a tense interview, an office scene or a villain leaning back.
Bed spring creak
Old metal springs squeaking as someone turns over, for a restless sleeper, a cheap motel or a noise in the next room.
Steel hull groan
A steel hull bending under pressure with a low metallic strain, for submarines, deep water and ships in heavy seas.

Ways to use a creak sound effect
Hold a quiet scene below deck
A slow wooden hull creak carries a long shot of a ship hold with no score, keeping a period drama, a sailing game or an audio story afloat.

Show the gate has not opened in years
A long rusty hinge creak as the gate swings tells viewers the place is neglected before they see the weeds, in film, games and animated openings.

자주 묻는 질문
What is a creak sound effect?
A creak sound effect is the strained squeal or groan a material makes when it flexes or rubs under load. Wood, iron, leather and springs all creak differently, so the right creak tells the viewer what is moving as well as where.
Where can I get creak sounds for a video?
Describe the creak to Morphic and it generates the take for you. Naming the material is faster than searching a library for the right board or hinge, and every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start there.
How do I make a custom creak sound effect?
Start with the material and what moves it, then add length and pitch. A prompt like "a wooden ship hull creaking as it rolls, long deep timber groans" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can swap the material or speed until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between a creak, a squeak and a groan?
Creaks are dry, strained rubs of middling pitch, the sound of a floorboard under a step. A squeak is shorter and higher, usually a small hinge or a spring. A groan is long and low, a big hull or beam bending under heavy weight.
Can I use these creak sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my creak sound not sit right in the edit?
Most often the creak is the wrong size for the object on screen. A deep hull groan under a small stool sounds false, and a tiny squeak under a heavy gate sounds thin. Match the pitch to the size and start the creak on the frame the movement begins.
