Punctuate a jump scare on the exact frame
A shout with a hard front edge and an abrupt stop lands where you place it. Anything with a slow attack arrives late no matter where you cut it.

Boo sound effect
Both boos in one place: the shouted scare that makes someone jump, and the crowd jeer that buries a bad take. Generate either from a description.
- Say whether it is one voice or a whole crowd, and how hard it lands
- Your own take rather than a clip shared across a thousand uploads
- Clean audio you can place in your own room with your own reverb
Boos for scares, crowds, and comedy edits
Shouted scare
Loud, close, and stopped dead. The hard front edge is what makes someone jump, so this is the take that actually does the job a jump scare needs.
Whispered boo
Breathy and unvoiced, right against the microphone. Quieter than the shout and considerably more unsettling, because the closeness is the threat.
Playful boo
Light and singsong, the version an adult uses on a child. It reads as a game rather than a fright, which is what a comedy cut usually wants.
Crowd jeer
A full room disapproving at once, rolling rather than in unison. The uneven timing is what stops it sounding like one take copied six times.
Single heckler
One voice from somewhere in the room. A lone boo is far more pointed than a crowd, because the audience knows exactly who it came from.
Boo turning to jeers
The crowd starting on one note and breaking up into scattered shouts. The change of state is what a single sustained boo cannot carry.

Ways to use a boo sound effect
Fill a silence with something coming apart
A jeer that scatters into individual shouts carries a long shot on its own. It suits an animated scene or a game crowd as much as a live-action stage.
Prompt'u düzenleyin
Tell the audience how the room feels
A rolling crowd boo sets the mood of a whole venue in a few seconds, and it does it before anyone on screen has reacted to anything.
Prompt'u düzenleyin
Put someone behind the camera without showing them
A whispered boo close to the microphone tells the audience somebody is right there, in a shot where the frame is empty. Nothing needs to appear.

SSS
What is a boo sound effect?
Two different sounds that share a word. One is a shouted exclamation used to startle someone, and the other is a crowd jeering in disapproval. They behave nothing alike in an edit: the scare needs a hard front edge and the crowd needs length and uneven timing.
How do I make a scary boo sound effect?
Ask for a hard front edge and an abrupt stop. A scare works because the sound arrives with no warning, so any ramp at the front ruins it. Keep it close and dry, around a second and a half, and place the first frame of audio exactly on the cut.
How do I make a crowd booing sound?
Describe overlapping voices with uneven timing, and give it eight seconds or more. The detail that matters is the unevenness, since a crowd that boos in unison sounds like one recording stacked on itself rather than a room full of people.
Why does my jump scare not land?
Usually the sound starts a few frames after the picture does. The ear is far more precise than the eye about attack, so line the very first sample of the shout up with the cut rather than the middle of the word.
Should a boo be close or distant?
Close for a scare, because proximity is the threat, and further back for a crowd, because a jeer heard from the stage is how the audience expects to hear it. A distant scare loses its edge, and a close crowd sounds like it is inside the camera.
Can I use a generated boo sound commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Generating the crowd rather than downloading one also means the same jeer is not already sitting under a hundred other videos.
