Swoosh sound effect

A thin, bright pass with almost no body behind it. This is the version most edits reach for, because it reads as movement without adding any weight the picture has to justify.

Air that thickens and climbs for several seconds before stopping dead. Lay the stop on the cut and everything before it becomes anticipation.

The movement runs inward rather than past, arriving instead of leaving. Useful when the next shot is the destination and the transition should feel like being drawn into it.

Thick and low, with the rounded front a large object makes. Reach for it when something with mass is moving on screen and a thin whip would read as too small for it.

Dry fabric dragged across itself, closer to friction than to air. It sits under dialogue where a bright whip would jump out, so it suits lower-key transitions and menu movement.

The same fast front, but the thin end of it keeps ringing for seconds afterwards. The tail crosses the edit point, which is what makes two unrelated shots feel joined.
