Make a sudden stop land on screen
A sharp squeal on the frame a car pulls up gives a reveal or a near miss its jolt, in a short film, a game cutscene or an animated chase.
Prompt bearbeiten
Brake
The squeal of car brakes easing to a stop, the hiss of a truck air brake, and the long screech of a train on its rails. Describe the brakes and Morphic generates them clean, from a bike squeak to worn pads grinding.
- Ask for a squealing car, a hissing air brake or a screeching train, and that is the brake you get
- Brakes made for the car pulling up outside in your scene, as gentle or as hard as you ask
- Comes as clean, isolated audio you download and lay under the stop in your edit
Brake sounds for games, animation, and video edits
Car brake squeal
The thin high squeal of pads gripping as a car slows to a stop, the everyday brake people recognize at once.
Air brake hiss
The sharp burst of compressed air from a truck or bus brake, for a vehicle arriving or settling at a curb.
Train brakes screeching
A long grinding screech of steel on steel as a train slows, for stations, freight yards and rail scenes.
Bicycle brake squeak
A short rubbery squeak of rim brakes pulling a bike up, for light street scenes and cycling clips.
Handbrake pulled
The ratchet clicks of a handbrake lever pulled up, the small sound that says a car has parked for good.
Grinding worn brakes
Metal pads scraping on a disc with every turn, for a neglected car, a breakdown or a mechanic scene.

Ways to use a brake sound effect
Fill a quiet street scene without music
An air brake hissing at a stop fills a lull at a crossing with something real, in a vlog, a city video or a podcast drama with no score.
Prompt bearbeiten
Put the audience on a train platform
A long rail screech says a train is pulling in before the wide shot lands, in a travel video, a period drama, an animation or an audio story.
Prompt bearbeiten
Show a car arriving that never appears
A handbrake ratchet just outside the frame says someone has parked and stayed, so your film, game or podcast never has to show the car.

Häufig gestellte Fragen
What is a brake sound effect?
It is a recording of a vehicle braking: pads squealing on a disc, compressed air venting from a truck, steel wheels screeching on rails or a lever ratcheting up. It is the sound of the brake itself, which is what tells the audience a vehicle is stopping before they see it stop.
Where can I get brake sounds for a video?
Generate them from a prompt. Describing the brake you want takes less time than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact vehicle and stop your scene needs. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom brake sound effect?
Describe the vehicle, the kind of brake and how hard it stops, then generate it. A prompt like "a heavy truck air brake releasing with a sharp loud hiss" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between a brake squeal, a tire screech and an air brake hiss?
A brake squeal is pads vibrating against a disc as a car slows; a tire screech is rubber skidding on the road under hard braking or a fast turn; and an air brake hiss is compressed air venting on a truck or bus. A gentle stop wants a squeal, a panic stop wants the tire screech, and anything heavy at a curb wants the hiss.
Can I use these brake sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my brake sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually the sound ends at a different moment from the vehicle. A squeal that runs on after the car has stopped reads as pasted on, so trim it to the frame the wheels stop turning, or describe a shorter stop in the prompt. Matching the brake type to the vehicle, air for a bus, pads for a car, does the rest.
