Draw protein structures for notes and slides

Describe the protein diagram you need in Morphic's Image tool, from a ribbon fold to a ball and stick chain. Set the structure level, the palette and the line weight, adjust the crop and labels space on the Canvas, then download the diagram in HD for your notes.

Protein drawing styles to try

Protein diagram compositions to draw

Folding sequence across the page

Four stages of one protein folding from a flat chain to a compact globule, drawn left to right in clean vector line with light arrows between the stages.

Enzyme and substrate fitting

An enzyme drawn in ribbon form with a small substrate shape moving into its pocket, the two coloured differently so the fit reads instantly at a glance.

Protein in a membrane cross section

A channel protein threaded through a lipid bilayer, the membrane drawn as two rows of round headed tails, the protein rendered in muted flat colour.

Preguntas frecuentes

How do I draw a protein structure clearly?
Pick one convention and stay in it. Ribbon diagrams show the fold, ball and stick shows the bonds, and space filling shows the surface. Mixing two in one image is what makes most student diagrams hard to read.
How do I show the four levels of protein structure?
Ask for four panels in a row: a flat chain of beads, a coiled helix, a folded ribbon, and several folded units assembled together. Keeping one line weight and palette across all four makes the progression obvious.
Can I get a protein diagram with a transparent or white background?
Yes. Ask for a plain white background with no grid and no shadow, then crop it on the Canvas. It drops straight into a slide, a poster or a lab report without fighting the layout behind it.
Should I add labels to the drawing itself?
Generate the diagram without text and add labels in your slide or document software. Generated lettering is often malformed, and keeping labels separate means you can translate or edit them later without redrawing.
What colours work best for a protein ribbon diagram?
Two or three muted colours, one per structural element, on a white ground. Helices in one colour and sheets in another is the convention readers expect, and it survives being printed in low quality.
Can I keep one visual style across a whole set of diagrams?
Generate the first diagram, then use Style Transfer to carry its palette, line weight and background onto every other structure. A lecture deck or revision set then reads as one consistent figure family.
