Questions fréquentes

How do I draw a maple leaf step by step?
Draw the stem and midrib first, then four more veins fanning out from the same point, two to each side. Put a lobe tip on the end of each vein and connect them with curves that dip deep between the lobes. Detail the toothed edge last.
How many lobes does a maple leaf have?
Most have five, with the middle three roughly equal and the bottom pair smaller and angled down. Some species run to three lobes and a few to seven, so naming the count in the prompt keeps the shape consistent.
Why does my maple leaf look lopsided?
The vein fan is usually uneven. All the main veins should leave the stem from a single point and spread at similar angles. Sketching that fan before the outline fixes the symmetry without making the leaf look mechanical.
How do I draw a maple leaf for a stencil or cut-out?
Ask for a solid filled silhouette on flat white with no shading, no veins and no cast shadow. Keep the sinuses slightly shallower than life so the lobes do not snap when the shape is cut.
How do I colour a maple leaf realistically?
Do not fill it with one red. Lay a yellow ochre base over the whole blade, build orange through the middle and push red only into the lobe tips and along the veins. A little green left near the stem sells the turn.
Can I get a maple leaf drawing on a plain background?
Yes. Ask for a plain white background with no ground, no shadow and no other leaves, then crop it on the Canvas. That leaves a clean silhouette you can drop into a card, a badge or a seasonal layout.
