Questions fréquentes
What is an antique motor sound effect?
It is a recording of an early petrol engine, a vintage car, a stationary farm engine or an old tractor, at a moment such as a crank start, an idle or a backfire. Early motors have few cylinders and fire slowly, so you hear each beat as a separate putt, which sets them apart from a modern engine.
Where can I get antique motor sounds for a video?
Generate them from a prompt. Describing the take you want takes less time than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact engine and moment your scene needs. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom antique motor sound effect?
Describe the engine, its age and what it is doing, then generate it. A prompt like "a vintage car engine started by a hand crank, a cough, then a putting idle" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between a putt, a backfire and a hit-and-miss beat?
A putt is the steady firing of an early engine at idle or on the road. A backfire is a sudden loud crack when fuel ignites in the exhaust. A hit-and-miss beat is a stationary engine that fires once, coasts on its flywheel, then fires again.
Can I use these antique motor sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my antique motor sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually the engine sounds too modern. A smooth, fast hum under an old car reads as wrong, because the ear expects to hear the slow separate beats of an early motor. Ask for a slow putt, an open exhaust and rattling metal, and the engine settles into the period with far less work.
