Hit the cut with a cicada call
A call that swells and stops on the frame you cut gives a nature short, a game transition or an animation a crisp landing.

Cicada
The metallic drone of a cicada chorus, the swell and fade of one insect calling, and the dry clicks in between. Describe the cicadas and Morphic generates them clean, from one buzzing call to a pulsing chorus.
- Ask for one cicada, a whole chorus or a single call winding down, and that is the take you get
- A chorus made for the sticky August afternoon in your shot, as thick or thin as you ask
- Isolated insect audio with nothing else in it, ready to download and drop into your edit
Cicada sounds for games, animation, and video edits
Cicada chorus
The thick pulsing drone of many cicadas together, the bed that makes a scene feel hot and heavy.
Single cicada drone
One insect close up, a dense metallic rattle that holds, for a macro shot or a still, sticky pause.
Swelling call
A call that ramps up, holds and winds down, a shape you can cut to a slow push-in or a held look.
Clicks and ticks
Short dry rattles with small gaps between them, lighter than a full call, for a small and close detail.
Takeoff
A stiff papery wing flutter and a short whirr as the insect leaves, a tiny transition between shots.
Held cicada rasp
Harsh broken buzzes from an insect held in the hand, for a close nature moment or an uneasy one.

Ways to use a cicada sound effect
Keep a still shot alive without music
A steady chorus under a long held frame keeps a quiet scene from going dead, in a film, a game level or a podcast segment.

Make a place feel hot and heavy
One wall of cicadas tells the audience it is sweltering before anyone wipes their brow, in video, games or audio drama.

Hint at insects hidden in the trees
A single drone from off frame suggests life all around without showing a bug, in documentary, animation or a horror game.

Questions fréquentes
What is a cicada sound effect?
It is a recording of the metallic buzzing drone a cicada makes by clicking ribbed plates on its body very fast. It can be one insect close up or a dense chorus, and it is one of the quickest ways to make a scene feel hot, still and heavy.
Where can I get cicada sounds for a video?
Generate them. Describing the take you want is quicker than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact cicada call your scene needs. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom cicada sound effect?
Describe how many cicadas and what the call does, then generate it. A prompt like "a cicada call swelling from soft ticking to a full rasping buzz, then winding down" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between a cicada, a cricket and a bee?
A cicada makes a dense metallic rattle-drone that swells and holds. A cricket makes a clean repeating chirp with gaps between each one. A bee is the soft buzz of wings in flight, and mixing them up is the most common reason an insect bed sounds off for the scene.
Can I use these cicada sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my cicada chorus swamp the edit?
A cicada chorus is dense and sits right where voices live, so at full level it fights dialogue. Bring it down under speech and let it rise in the pauses, or use a single drone or a few clicks where you only need a hint of insects.
