Mark a large animal noticing you
A snort has a fast attack and lands where you put it. It reads as a large animal noticing something, without the melodrama of a roar.

Giraffe sound effects
Hums, snorts, bleats, and the movement of an animal that size. Giraffes are quieter than people expect, and these are the sounds they actually make.
- Ask for the call, the age of the animal, and the distance
- A sound made for your savannah, not a shared wildlife clip
- Clean audio ready to layer into a bush bed
Giraffe sounds for film, games, and animation
Low hum
0:05The droning call giraffes make at night. Low, quiet and easily missed, which is why it went unrecorded for so long, and odd enough that few can place it.
Snort
0:03Air forced through large nostrils with a wet flutter. This is the sound a giraffe actually makes most often, and it reads as size without any roar.
Calf bleat
0:03Thin, nasal, and wavering. Calves are far more vocal than adults, so this is how you establish a young animal without showing one.
Hooves on dry ground
0:06Deep dull thuds spaced wide apart. The spacing is what carries the scale: a long stride sounds nothing like a horse at the same tempo.
Browsing leaves
0:06Branches pulling and leaves stripping. Feeding sounds place the animal in a tree line more specifically than any call could.
Distant snort
0:04The same snort heard across open ground, softened at the top with a longer tail. It fills a wide shot without pulling attention to itself.

Ways to use giraffe sound effects
Let browsing and slow steps hold a wide shot
Browsing and slow steps give a quiet wide shot something to rest on. It works in a game level or an animated sequence as much as over live action.
Modifier le prompt
Tell the audience how big the animal is
Wide-spaced hoofbeats say size more convincingly than volume does. An audience reads stride length instinctively even when they cannot name why.
Modifier le prompt
Put an animal in the treeline without filming one
Leaves stripping just out of frame tells the audience something tall is feeding there, in a shot where nothing appears. Cheap and completely convincing.

Questions fréquentes
Do giraffes make any sound?
Yes, though far less than most animals their size. They snort, hum, bleat, and grunt, and calves are considerably more vocal than adults. The hum is the most interesting: it sits at the very bottom of human hearing and is mostly produced at night.
What is the giraffe humming sound?
A low, quiet droning call recorded mainly at night and only described by researchers relatively recently. It is unusual enough that most audiences cannot identify it, which makes it genuinely useful when you want something present in a scene without naming it.
How do I make a giraffe sound effect for a wildlife scene?
Reach for the quiet sounds rather than a call. A snort, browsing in a thorn tree, or slow wide-spaced hoofbeats will do more for a savannah scene than any vocalisation, because that is genuinely what the animal contributes to a soundscape.
How do I make footsteps sound like a very large animal?
Widen the spacing rather than deepening the tone. Stride length is what an ear reads as size, so heavy thuds spaced far apart say large animal, while the same weight at a quicker tempo just sounds like a horse.
Why does my giraffe sound come out as a cow or a camel?
Because bleats and grunts across large herbivores are genuinely similar, and the name alone gives a model little to work with. Describe the texture instead, as in thin and nasal with a wavering pitch, and specify the age of the animal.
Can I use these giraffe sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each one is generated rather than pulled from a shared catalogue, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's wildlife sequence.
