Latch

The crisp click of a door latch into its strike plate, an iron gate latch clanking shut, case clasps flipped open and a barrel bolt scraped home. Describe the latch and Morphic generates it clean.

  • A door bolt clicking home, a gate latch clanking down, case clasps snapping open
  • A click written for your locked bedroom door, garden gate or briefcase
  • Comes back as clean, isolated audio you download and drop on the frame the catch closes

Let the audience hear someone lock them in

Questions fréquentes

What is a latch sound effect?
It is a recording of a catch opening or closing, a door latch clicking, a gate latch clanking down, case clasps snapping or a bolt sliding home. It is a short, sharp sound that tells the audience something is now shut, open or locked.
Where can I get latch sounds for a video?
Generate them from a prompt. Describing the latch you need takes less time than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact take your scene needs. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom latch sound effect?
Describe the kind of latch, whether it opens or closes and how it ends, then generate it. A prompt like "a metal barrel bolt slid across and locked, a gritty scrape of steel ending in a solid clunk" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between a latch, a bolt and a lock sound?
A latch is a spring catch or a dropped bar that holds a door or gate shut, so it is a quick click or clank as it closes. A bolt is slid by hand, so you hear a scrape before the clunk. A lock needs a key or a turn, which adds the sound of the key and the cylinder turning.
Can I use these latch sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my latch sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually the click arrives before the door is fully closed, or the latch is the wrong weight for the door. Put the click on the exact frame the door stops moving, and match the material, a light cabinet catch for a cupboard, a heavy iron clank for a gate.
