Cut to the platform and make it land
The rush of an arriving car under a hard cut to the platform gives a short film or a podcast segment its location in about two seconds.

Subway
Every subway sound an edit needs, ready to play: a train roaring through, the door chime, the screech of steel brakes, and the rising whine of pulling out. Describe the one your shot is missing and Morphic generates it in seconds.
- Choose how far off the train sits, so the platform feels packed or nearly deserted before anyone speaks.
- Built for your station, not the same recording circulating through every commute montage online.
- Arrives as a clear stereo file with no announcer voice baked in, leaving room for your own dialogue on top.
Subway sounds for animation, games, and video edits
Train through station
A full arrival: distant rumble growing into a roar past the platform edge, then fading down the tunnel. The anchor for any station scene.
Door chime
The short two-tone signal before doors close, useful as a timing marker when you want an exit or a decision to feel rushed.
Brake screech
Metal-on-metal squeal at the moment of stopping, sharp enough to make a listener flinch and cover a hard picture change.
Pull-out
The building acceleration of a car leaving the platform, made for endings where somebody is left standing behind.
Rail clatter
Steady wheel-over-joint rhythm heard from inside a moving car, an easy bed under interior conversation or a travel montage.
Turnstile clunk
One heavy mechanical thunk with a gate rotation, the small detail that makes an entrance feel like a real transit system.

Ways to use subway sound effects
When two characters have nothing to say yet
Rail hum and distant announcements hold a long silent stretch between characters, letting a look or a hesitation play out with room to breathe.

A city that never quite goes quiet
Layered turnstiles, footsteps and tunnel air build the everyday grind of commuting for a documentary sequence or an urban game district.

The train you never show
Brakes and a door chime from beyond the frame put a train, a crowd and a whole station behind a character who never turns around.

Questions fréquentes
What is a subway sound effect?
It is a recording of one specific subway sound: a train passing through, the door chime, the brake screech, the rail clatter, or a turnstile. Each one reads differently on screen, so the one you pick tells the audience whether a train is arriving, leaving, or rushing past before you cut to it.
Where can I get subway sounds for a video?
Generate them rather than search for them. Describing the subway sound you want takes less time than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact one your scene needs instead of the closest available clip. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom subway sound effect?
Describe the part of the subway and what it is doing, then generate it. A prompt like "a subway train roaring through a station, steel wheels rumbling on the rails" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until the sound matches your shot.
What is the difference between a subway and a train sound?
A subway is electric, so it runs on a rising motor whine and a steel wheel rumble with no diesel engine, and its sounds echo in a tunnel where a mainline train reads more open. The door chimes and rail clatter are shared, but the electric whine and the underground character are what mark a sound as a subway.
Can I use these subway sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated rather than pulled from a shared library, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my subway sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually the wrong part is chosen rather than the sound itself. A distant pass-through laid under a shot of someone standing right beside the train feels pasted on, because the ear expects the roar to match how close the camera is. Pick the part of the subway that matches the picture when you generate the sound, and the result sits in the scene with far less mixing.
