Swinging

Rusty chains squeaking on a swing, a rope creaking on a branch, a bench swing rocking and a hanging sign squealing on its hooks. Describe the swing and Morphic generates it clean.

  • Name the swing, a squeaky chain, a creaking rope, a sign on its hooks
  • A creak cut for your empty playground at dusk
  • Comes back as clean, isolated audio you download and line up with each pass of the swing on screen

Ways to use a swinging sound effect

Time a reveal to the top of the swing

The rope creak at the top of the arc gives a jump, a reveal or a punchline a precise moment to land on, in a film, an animation or a vlog.

Let an empty swing hold a still shot

A swing squeaking on its own carries a long shot with nobody in it and no music, in a horror short, a game cutscene or a podcast story.

Set an old town creaking in the wind

A sign squealing on its hooks tells the audience the place is empty and worn before anyone appears, in a western, a game level or audio drama.

Hint that someone just got up and left

Questions fréquentes

What is a swinging sound effect?
It is the sound of something hanging and moving back and forth, a chain swing squeaking, a rope creaking on a branch, a sign or lantern swaying on a hook. Most of the sound comes from the pivot, so each pass repeats the same creak or squeal.
Where can I get swinging sounds for a video?
Generate them from a prompt. Describing the swinging sound you need takes less time than digging through a stock library, and your scene gets the exact take it needs because it is generated for you. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom swinging sound effect?
Describe what is swinging, what it hangs from and the rhythm of each pass, then generate it. A prompt like "a hanging metal sign swinging on rusty hooks, a thin high squeal on each sway" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between a chain swing, a rope swing and a bench swing sound?
A chain swing squeaks at the metal links and the top bar, a high repeating squeal on each pass. A rope swing creaks where the fibre rubs the branch and adds a rush of air as it moves. A bench swing is heavier and slower, with wooden creaks and chain clinks.
Can I use these swinging sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my swinging sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually the rhythm of the squeak does not match the speed of the swing on screen. Each creak should land at the ends of the arc, where the swing turns. Generate a pace that matches the shot, and trim the clip so a squeak falls on each turn.
