How do I draw a donut that looks round rather than flat?
Treat it as a ring, not a circle with a hole. The inner opening should be an ellipse slightly off centre, and the shading should wrap around the tube so the far side of the hole is darker than the near side.
How do I draw glaze?
Draw the glaze as its own shape sitting on top of the dough, with an uneven edge and a few drips running down the side. Leave one clean highlight unmarked on the glaze so it reads as wet.

Vary the angle of every sprinkle and let them follow the curve of the ring, shorter and more crowded near the edges. Add a tiny shadow under each one on the lit side of the donut.
