How do I draw a leg?
Block in the thigh and the lower leg as two tapered cylinders joined at the knee, then add the foot as a wedge. Refine the outline with the curve of the calf at the back and the straighter shin at the front.
What proportions should I use for legs?
The legs make up roughly half of an adult figure height, and the knee sits about halfway between the hip and the sole. The thigh is slightly longer than the lower leg.
How do I draw a leg from the front?
Show the inward angle from hip to knee and the slight outward curve of the calf. The inner ankle sits higher than the outer ankle, which gives the leg a natural look.
How do I draw foreshortened legs?
Overlap the forms, drawing the part nearest the viewer larger and letting it cover the parts behind. Ask for the angle explicitly, such as a leg pointing toward the viewer.
Which medium is best for leg anatomy studies?
