Punctuate a joke that lands badly
Two crickets and a lot of silence is the oldest way to say nobody laughed. It works because the sound is thin enough to make the quiet audible.

Cricket sound effects
A single chirp, a full night bed, or the awkward silence a joke falls into. Describe the density you need and Morphic builds it at that scale.
- Set how many crickets there are and how close they sit
- A night written for this field, not a bed everyone shares
- Clean audio you can lay under a whole night scene
Cricket sounds for film, games, and animation
Single cricket
0:04One insect, chirping at a regular rate with clear gaps. A single voice sounds close and specific in a way a full bed never does.
Night bed
0:10Many insects at different distances blending into a steady wash. This is the one that actually sits under a scene, because no single chirp draws attention.
Comedy crickets
0:06Two insects, sparse and exposed, with real silence between the chirps. The silence is the joke, so the sound has to be thin rather than full.
Distant field
0:10A whole field heard from well back, soft and blended with the bright rasp gone. It opens a scene out rather than placing the insects in it.
Crickets and grass
0:08Chirping with dry stems shifting underneath. The second layer is what makes the ground feel real rather than a plain insect bed.
Katydid
0:04Harsher and more mechanical than a cricket, in repeated three-note bursts. It reads as late summer specifically rather than as night in general.

Ways to use cricket sound effects
Let a dense bed hold a still night scene
A dense bed gives a still scene something to rest on and stays clear of dialogue. It works in a game level or an animated short as much as on film.

Tell the audience it is a warm night
Crickets date a scene to summer and to after dark at once. Nothing else places both the season and the hour in a single sound.

Put a field outside a scene shot indoors
Soft distant chirping under an interior tells the audience what is beyond the walls, in a shot with no window on it. The cheapest exterior there is.

よくある質問
How do I make a cricket night bed?
Ask for many crickets at different distances rather than one, and say the sound should be continuous and unbroken. Density and distance variation are what turn individual chirps into a wash that can sit under a scene without any single insect pulling focus.
How do I get the comedy cricket sound?
Ask for only two crickets, sparse and exposed, with clear silence between each chirp. The joke is the silence rather than the insects, so a full bed will not land it. Thin and quiet is exactly what you want here.
Why do my crickets come out as static?
Because the prompt named the insect but not the rhythm. Cricket chirping is a repeated trill at a regular rate with gaps, and a model given only the word cricket tends to return an even hiss. Describe the repetition and the gaps and it resolves.
What is the difference between crickets and katydids?
Crickets produce a clean rhythmic trill, while katydids are harsher and more mechanical, usually in repeated three-note bursts. Katydids read as late summer specifically, so they place a scene more precisely than crickets do.
Can I use a cricket bed under dialogue?
Yes, and a dense one is easier to work with than a sparse one. A wash of many insects is steady and predictable, whereas isolated chirps are individual events that keep pulling attention off a line each time they happen.
Can I use these cricket sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each bed is generated rather than pulled from a shared catalogue, you also avoid the same night turning up under someone else's scene.
