Ratchet

The crisp run of clicks as a socket wrench swings, the fast buzz of a handle flicked backwards, and the clack of a cargo strap cranked tight. Describe the ratchet your edit needs and Morphic generates it clean.

  • A socket wrench on a bolt, slow counted clicks or a cargo strap cranked tight
  • Clicks made for your garage floor or roadside repair
  • Comes back as clean, isolated audio you download and drop on the frame the handle starts to swing

Ways to use a ratchet sound effect

Lock in the final turn with a hard click

Slow, separate clicks on the last turn of a bolt make a finished job feel solid, in a repair video, an animated short or a crafting game.

Keep a repair montage moving

A steady run of wrench clicks carries a long build sequence with nobody talking, in a restoration video, a reel or a podcast segment.

Put the viewer inside a busy garage

A handle flicked backwards somewhere off to the side tells the audience work is going on around them, in a film, an audio drama or a racing game pit.

Let a load be strapped down out of sight

Heavy strap clacks behind a truck say cargo is being secured for a trip, so a road movie, a heist or a game cutscene can keep it off screen.

よくある質問

What is a ratchet sound effect?
It is a recording of a ratcheting tool, most often a socket wrench, making the run of metal clicks as its handle swings back and forth. It also covers heavier ratchets like cargo straps. It tells the audience something is being tightened, fixed or secured.
Where can I get ratchet sounds for a video?
Generate them from a prompt. Describing the tool and the click speed takes less time than digging through a stock library, and you get the exact take your scene needs. Every sound on this page was made from the prompt printed beside it, so you can start from one and adjust it.
How do I make a custom ratchet sound effect?
Describe the ratchet, what it is doing and how fast it clicks, then generate it. A prompt like "a ratchet wrench turned slowly, five separate crisp metal clicks with a short gap between each" gives Morphic enough to work with, and you can adjust the wording until it fits the shot.
What is the difference between a ratchet wrench, a fast spin and a ratchet strap?
A ratchet wrench gives crisp light clicks each time the handle swings back on a bolt. A fast spin is the same mechanism flicked with nothing to grip, so the clicks blur into a fast buzz. A ratchet strap uses a much larger lever, so its clacks are louder, slower and heavier.
Can I use these ratchet sounds commercially?
Yes, audio generated on paid plans can be used commercially. See our terms for full licensing details. Because each sound is generated for you, you also avoid the clip turning up in someone else's video.
Why does my ratchet sound not sit right in the edit?
Usually the click rate does not match the hand. Clicks only happen on the back swing, so a fast run under a slow, heavy turn looks dubbed. Pick a take whose speed matches the movement, or use slow counted clicks and place each one on a back swing in the shot.
