How do I draw the hood so the face stays hidden?
Treat the hood opening as a shape, not a hole. Draw the rim as an oval that turns with the head, then fill everything inside it with your darkest value and stop. If you want a hint of skull, let only the brow ridge and one cheekbone catch light at the very front and leave the rest black.
How do I draw a skull correctly?
Build it as a sphere for the cranium with a boxy jaw attached below, then cut the eye sockets in as deep openings rather than flat ovals. The cheekbones sit wide and the nasal opening is a triangle, not a nose shape. Getting those proportions right matters more than drawing the teeth carefully.
How do I draw robe folds that hang properly?
Folds start where the cloth is held or supported, the shoulders and the arms, and fall from there in long tapering pipes. Keep fewer, larger folds rather than many small ones, and let them gather and pool at the hem. Randomly scattered creases are what make a robe look like crumpled paper.
How do I draw a scythe that looks right?
The blade curves in a long shallow arc and sits almost perpendicular to the shaft, not angled back like a sword. The shaft is longer than the figure is tall and usually has a grip peg partway down. Drawing the blade too short or too steeply hooked is the usual mistake.
How do I get a plain background for a reaper drawing?
