How do I draw piano keys correctly?
The black keys repeat in a group of two then a group of three, with a wider white gap between each set. Say that in the prompt. Evenly spaced black keys are the single most common mistake in a piano drawing.
How do I draw a grand piano in perspective?
The case is a curve, not a straight-sided shape, and the keyboard end is wider than the tail. Name the viewing height and ask for the lid to open away from the viewer, which fixes most of the geometry on its own.
What is easier to draw, a grand or an upright?
An upright, because it is close to a box with a keyboard across the front. A grand needs the curved case and the three splayed legs handled together, which is much less forgiving.
How do I draw just the piano keys?
Ask for a close horizontal crop of two or three octaves at a slight angle. That gives you the black key groups at a readable size and avoids the harder problem of the whole case.
Can I get a simple piano outline for a poster or sticker?
Yes. Ask for a single even stroke weight, no shading and no background. An upright or a top-down grand silhouette both scale down well without losing what they are.
Can I draw other instruments in the same style?
