How do I draw a white animal on white paper?
Draw the shadow, not the bear. On white paper the animal is defined by the grey half tones under the jaw, along the belly and inside the legs, plus a soft sky tone behind it so the top edge has something to sit against. If you keep the paper as the lightest value and never touch the lit areas, the coat reads white without being outlined heavily.
What makes a polar bear look different from other bears?
The proportions, mainly. A polar bear has a long neck and a narrow head that runs almost straight off the shoulder, a high hump of muscle over the front legs, and very large paws. Brown bears have a shorter face, a rounder forehead and a dished profile, so getting the neck length right does most of the work.
How do I draw polar bear fur?
Use short strokes that follow the direction the coat grows, which is down the back, forward along the neck and outward on the haunch. Vary the pressure so the strokes group into clumps instead of an even pelt, and leave clean paper where the light hits. Rendering every hair flattens the form.
How do I draw a simple polar bear for a child or a class sheet?
Ask for even contour line, no shading and a flat white background. Build the body from two overlapping ovals, a small head shape and four short blocky legs, then round the corners. Keeping it to outline makes it easy to trace or colour in afterwards.
Can I remove or change the background on a polar bear drawing?
Yes. Generate it on a flat white background, then crop on the Canvas to the framing you need, or use the Canvas to swap the ground for an ice edge or an open water line. Starting plain is easier than trying to clear a busy arctic scene later.
