How do I draw realistic eyes?
Three details do most of the work: a soft shadow cast by the upper lashes onto the white, iris fibres radiating from the pupil, and one bright highlight that crosses the pupil edge. Ask for all three by name and the eye stops looking flat.
Why do my eyes look lifeless?
Usually the white is drawn pure white. It is a sphere, so it should carry a soft shadow at the top and a faint tone at the corners. Ask for a shaded sclera and one clean highlight rather than several scattered ones.
How do I draw a pair of eyes that match?
Draw them together rather than one after the other. Ask for a shared brow line and a shared lower lid line across both eyes, with the far eye slightly narrowed if the head is turned.
How do I draw eyelashes without them looking like spider legs?
Ask for lashes drawn as clumped groups with a heavier line at the base, tapering and curving in the same direction. An even fan of identical lines is what reads as artificial.
Can I get an eye as a flat vector or a PNG-style asset?
Yes. Ask for flat vector line art, one even stroke, no shading and a plain white background, then crop it on the Canvas. That version stays readable at icon size.
Which medium suits eye drawing best?
Graphite gives the most control over the blended tone realism needs. Coloured pencil suits iris colour, charcoal suits dramatic low-key studies, and crisp ink is right for stylised or graphic work.
